Family and society isolating the sexually abused adolescent girl

However, writing news for a journalist is a professional religion. But it was not enough to just write news about the victim of sexual abuse, who became isolated and rejected by the society and family. And I coordinated the delivery to Kathmandu.

Last January 8, I had reached Turmakhand Rural Municipality, which is about 100 km away from Achham headquarters Mangalsen, in the eastern region of the district for reporting.

Family and society isolating the sexually abused adolescent girl

As it was too late to return home, I sat there . That same evening, when it was getting dark, suddenly a girl tried to commit suicide in Turmakhand Bazar and the mother cut the rope of that girl.

Some people from Turmakhand including journalist Tek Bahadur Thapa were next to me . I tried to ask some people who were there why the girl tried to commit suicide. Many did not want to say that they did not know the reality. A person who was nearby said, "It is a case of rape". After trying to reconcile with the village, he did not agree. They have come till Turmakhand Bazar this afternoon to see if they will get justice. After not finding anyone, she went home and tried to commit suicide.'

After hearing that, I wanted to know more about the incident. As it was night time, it was not possible to meet the girl. He was brought to the health post in Turmakhand in an unconscious state that night.

In the morning I made a plan to meet that girl . With the help of the local police, I had already taken preliminary information about the situation and incident of that girl.

On the morning of January 9th, I went to the health post to meet the girl. Outside the health post, all the nobles of his village had gathered . Everyone interpreted that incident in their own way. Journalist Tek Bahadur Thapa and I went to meet that girl.

At the time we visited, the girl was unconscious. She was foaming at the mouth and could only see a glimpse of her. After he was not satisfied, he was referred to the district hospital.

To understand the reality of the incident, I took the mother of the girl, who has passed 65 years of age, into solitude. According to her mother, 29-year-old Sarp Vick tried to rape her with a fist while going home from Turmakhand market on 7th of January. Vic, who was intoxicated with alcohol, had been stalking the girl since she was going home from the market.

When the drunken snakes started attacking her body when she was nearing the house, the girl's mother heard . Vic, who ran away before his mother reached the scene, reached home and started calling to apologize for his mistake. According to her mother, on the last day of the incident, people's representatives, the boy's party and the relatives of the girl, the villagers sat down and put pressure on the incident to be settled in the village.

In the village, both sides kept trying to settle the case by tempting the girl financially. After the incident happened, people in the village, including the people's representative, asked to settle the case by taking some money. "Daughter, I don't need money, it has robbed me of my honor by attacking me." I need justice, said the girl's mother During the conversation, she said, "The boy started saying that I have not done anything in front of everyone." He started saying that he will not accept the incident and will not settle the case. My daughter didn't agree with that.'

According to him, the girl's side went to court and instead they were going to deceive the girl by saying that she would be defamed. The girl reached the office of Turmakhand rural municipality after everyone in the village stopped her from going to the case. The teenager who went to the office and tried to go through the legal process did not know who to meet and what to do. The girl who went to the village center to seek justice returned home disappointed.

There was no one except her parents who spoke in favor of the teenager . The girl kept hearing that she had walked without shame even in a place where 2/3 people had gathered. After being hated by everyone, she tried to commit suicide.

'My husband has gone to Tarai for housework. Son and daughter-in-law are in Bombay. My daughter and I are the only ones at home . All the villagers became one, there was no one to speak for her daughter'' her mother said while reporting, "In the afternoon I also went to graze cattle and goats." There was no one else to go with. When she came home in the evening, she was afraid that no one would be there for me.'

According to her, the teenage girl who reached home was panicking. They started to attack my body, people of the society took the boy's side, and started saying that my honor is gone. When she started crying a lot, I was reminding her mother said, I started cooking. When I went to graze the cattle, I saw that there was a trap inside the barn and suddenly cut the trap.'

After talking to everyone, the public representative who tried to solve the

incident came back to Mangalsen and wrote a news in Kantipur under the title 'Sexual abuse by a teenager trying to solve it'. After the news was published, people's representatives, leaders, teachers, and professors of the girl's village kept calling for four days saying that it was not an incident that was in the news, but that it had disgraced the village. Some asked to correct the news, some threatened. But I was adamant on the girl's side . Some relatives also asked the girl's mother why she gave all the information about the incident to the journalist. The young man who molested the girl has been able to grab the vote to influence politics.

After the girl was discharged from the district hospital, the process of reporting to the police started. A young man who is related to him has reached Achham from Kailali to handle the incident himself.

After knowing the news that the girl had reached the district police office to register a case, I reached there . The girl's cousin, Parne, was beating her mother in the police compound saying that she had informed the journalist about the incident. He also scolded me for writing news about non-existent incidents. I had reached her side. He said he didn't know me. He was shouting in a loud voice saying that he will not leave such journalists who insulted my family by bringing out the incident that was not happening.

In the end, I am the one writing the news, I am in front of you, what should I do, he said. He started lecturing me saying, "No, sister". In particular, he was speaking in a way that the boy should not be sued rather than the girl.

After some time, there was a matter of finding a lawyer and writing a complaint with all the details of the incident. Where did the girl, her parents and the lawyer go? In the complaint, there was no mention of the girl's suicide attempt. I was suspicious from the beginning and asked the police what was wrong with the complaint. After knowing that there was no mention of suicide, he was again sent to write a complaint with all the details disclosed .

After completing all the procedures, the case was registered at the district police office. She could not return to the same village after the people of the village started interrupting her. It was said to keep the girl in a safe house in Mangalsen for a few days . After the case was registered, his mother and him were sent to a safe house. The relative who came with her did not allow the girl to be kept in the safe house . He forcibly took Kailali from there by going to the safe house and saying that he will not keep my sister there, he will take Kailali with him. They insulted me saying that the incident was big because I wrote the news in front of the Safe House staff. And the girl went to Kailali with her parents.

The girl had to come to Achham to give a statement some time after going to Kailali . Dai, who said that he would take all the responsibility, left him after reaching Kailali. The brothers in India are also mentally torturing the girl saying that they are involved in a case like rape. Her parents, who were living in the house built by the brothers in Kailali, were told to leave the house if they spoke in favor of their daughter. A month ago, his elderly parents returned to Achham.

As she was admitted in class 11 in Kailali, the girl stayed there. She asked the brothers for money to fill the exam form. Instead of money, she got constant abuse . They started pressuring me to leave the house.

Father and mother came unexpectedly, all the flour and rice in the house was finished . Then she started sleeping hungry . His brothers are torturing him day by day. Indirectly, he was pressured by his own family to release the boy by changing his statement and not to get involved in further litigation. But she refused to change her statement.

Unable to bear the stress, the girl kept calling me continuously for a week . She started crying saying that she started thinking of committing suicide after not being supported by her family. Since he was aware of the incident from the beginning, he was told that he could have been managed in a safe place . In order to break a story, a journalist has to write the news, and it has to be delivered to the stakeholders. This is what professional religion is. But I felt that it is not a big deal to just write news about the victim of sexual abuse, who was isolated from the society, isolated from the family, and rejected.

I conveyed all the information about the incident to Kamala Parajuli, the chairperson of the Women's Commission. She said that she would try to save the girl anyway. She also talked to various agencies for her management.

finally The chairperson of the Women's Commission and some of its staff made arrangements for her to stay in Kathmandu. Dambar BC, Chairman of Turmakhand Rural Municipality, arranged the transportation expenses . Now she has reached Kathmandu. Now the rest of his time will be spent in Kathmandu.

People's representatives, leaders, teachers, professors and other people of her village who are trying to cover up the incident by saying that it did not happen are unaware of the pain and suffering that the girl is going through lately. At that time, they had to free the perpetrators and give them immunity. But they didn't succeed.
