The MD and the head of the lab were arrested by the police after it was found that expired chemicals were used in the laboratory (lab) of the National Medical College and Teaching Hospital.
On Monday afternoon, a team of the Department of Medicine, the Metropolitan Municipality and the police conducted a raid at the teaching hospital located in Birganj Metropolitan City-15 based on a special information.
Superintendent of Police Kumodh Dhungel said that Shahnawaz Hussain, the managing director of the medical college and Sanjay Shah, the head of the lab, were charged after the expired chemical lock was recovered from the lab during the raid.
He said that further investigation has been carried out regarding expired chemicals. According to the police sources, the chemical expired in 2021 has also been recovered from the lab.
