The process of appointing vacant officers of the university is in the final stage: Prime Minister Dahal

Stating that the government has started various efforts to reform the university, he said that in his time, the process of appointing the vice-chancellor was started through open competition. He claimed that the government has started to select not only the vice-chancellor but also other officials in the university on the basis of open competition.

In spite of practical difficulties, open competition has been implemented and it has conveyed a positive message in the academic field, he said. He said that the open competitive system implemented by Tribhuvan University has been implemented in other universities including Purvanchal University.

Just a few days ago, Prime Minister Dahal informed that the Principal and Registrar of Tribhuvan University were appointed on the basis of open competition and claimed that this sent a message that the government is serious about reforming the university. "Now, the government is of the opinion that the appointment of officials at any level in the university will be done on the basis of open competition according to the prevailing laws and the university laws should be amended to make them completely autonomous and independent," he said.

He emphasized that the necessary structure should be prepared in the Purvanchal University campus and the medical college should be run. Stating that it is necessary for Purvanchal University to give special emphasis on employment-oriented, practical and life-useful education, Prime Minister Dahal said that special biological diversity research, natural resources-tools and traditional knowledge-skills should be promoted.

Former Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Kedarbhakta Mathe, was the chief guest at the 12th convocation ceremony where 7,856 students were initiated. According to the university, 6,568 undergraduate students, 1,285 postgraduate students and 3 M Phil students have been selected.
