As part of the Lumbini International Peace Festival, the Lumbini International Peace Marathon is going to be held next week in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. The race will be held on Saturday 24th Chait. The festival will be for two days. It will start on Friday. There will be Lumbini International Meditation Day and Lumbini Peace Concert.
The Peace Marathon race includes men's marathon as well as women's half marathon, men's and women's 5km open race and girls' 5km race. The top 10 players in the marathon will get cash prizes. The winner will win Rs 5 lakh, the second runner-up will win Rs 3 lakh and the third runner-up will win Rs 2 lakh. The fourth will get one lakh, the fifth will get 80,000 and the sixth will get 60,000.
The winner of the women's half marathon will win Rs 2 lakh, the second runner-up will win Rs 160,000 and the third runner-up will win Rs 120,000. The top three winners of the 5 km open race will get Rs 15,000, 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
Prizes of 15 thousand, 10 thousand and 5 thousand rupees have been arranged for the winners of the top three positions of the 5 km student race. The festival and peace marathon run are going to be jointly organized by Nepal Tourism Board, Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Lumbini Development Fund, Nepal Olympic Committee and Lumbini Sports Council.
