Ganesh Vick of Gandaki province has set a new junior national record in high jump on Tuesday under the 14th central level President's Running Shield competition.

Ganesha's National Record

Ganesh jumped 1.81 meters at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar and broke the record of 1.77 meters set by Prabhu Tharu of Lumbini in the President Running Shield held in 2075.

Avinas Sunar (1.75 m) of Wagmati Pradesh came second and Milan Vishwakarma (1.70 m) of Lumbini Pradesh came third. Susmita Choudhary (1.41 m) from Sudurpaschim Province (1.41 m), Sima Shrestha (1.38 m) from Gandaki came second, Pooja Nepali from Lumbini and Hira Budha (1.30 m) from Karnali became third in the competition.

Gandaki's Badal Karki won the gold in the students' 1,500m race. He completed the prescribed distance in 4 minutes 19.1 seconds. Ajay Vick of Karnali was second in a time of 4 minutes 19.6 seconds and Vikram Vick of Sudurpaschim was third in a time of 4 minutes 22.7 seconds. Kalpana Budha from Karnali became the first among the female students of the competition.

Kalpana took 04.4 seconds in 5 minutes to complete the prescribed distance. Devaki Kumari Dhami (5 minutes 13.09 seconds) of Sudurpaschim came second and Asmita Bhujel (5 minutes 19.8 seconds) of Wagmati came third. Rohit Kumar Gupta of Lumbini came first in the girls' 400m race. He covered the distance in 51.5 seconds.

Sant Bahadur Darai of Wagmati (51.9 seconds) was second and Rakesh Saraki of Koshi region was third. Sarita Khadka from Karnali became the first among female students in that competition. Sarita took 1 minute 02.3 seconds to complete the distance spent. Lumbini's Anisha Tharu (1 minute 03.5 seconds) came second and Karnali's Bhavna Karsal (1 minute 03.7 seconds) came third.

Adesh Kumar Yadav of Madhesh Pradesh became the first in the 100 meter race for students. He took 11.20 seconds to complete the prescribed distance. Praveen Rana Magar of Wagmati (11.35 seconds) was second and Chandra Bohra of Sudurpaschim (11.52 seconds) came third. Ritu Joshi from Sudurpaschim became the first among female students of the same competition. Ritu completed the prescribed distance in 13.58 seconds. Angel Adhikari (13.66 seconds) from Gandaki was second and Nisha Gharti (13.75 seconds) was third.
