Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was born on this day (April 24) in 1973. Born in Maharashtra, India, Tendulkar is one of the greatest cricket batsmen of all time.
Tendulkar started playing cricket for the Indian national team in 1989 at the age of 16. He has scored 51 hundreds in ODIs and 49 in Tests. He has scored 34 thousand 357 runs in 664 international matches. Which is 6000 runs more than Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara who is in second place.
Tendulkar has scored 18 thousand 426 runs in ODIs and 15 thousand 921 runs in Test matches. He retired from the game in November 2013. Tendulkar is the only player to score a century in international cricket. On 16 March 2012, he scored a hundred against Bangladesh at the Mirpur Stadium in Dhaka. Tendulkar also scored his first double century in ODI cricket on February 24, 2010. In the match against South Africa, Tendulkar scored 200 runs not out playing 147 balls.
