Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the license and renewal of weapons in the name of medical practitioner Durga Prasad Prasain. Home Minister Lamichhane formed a 4-member inquiry committee under the coordination of Rajendradev Pandey, joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Rishi Paudel, Deputy Secretary (Law) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Superintendent of Police Santosh Bhattarai and Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Ekdev Adhikari are members of the committee.

A semi-automatic weapon and 100 bullets were found with Prasain's aides during a search of the premises of the Supreme Court on March 5. 2 associates of Prasai Deepak Khadka and Rajkumar Dhital were arrested from the court premises. They were ordered to be released from prison by the joint bench of Supreme Court judges Nahkul Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel.

Khadka and Dhimal, who were arrested, were arrested on the offense of section 132 of the Civil Crimes Code, 2074, and the investigation was started by extending the deadline for investigation by the Kathmandu District Court. The Supreme Court issued an order to release them from prison, saying that the action of the police was illegal. Home Minister Lamichhane formed an inquiry committee after the order of the Supreme Court. The committee is mandated to scrutinize the license and renewal issued by the District Administration Office, Jhapa on 21 June 2075 in the name of Prasain and recommend action against the culprits. Similarly, the investigation committee has also been instructed to determine the criteria regarding the use of arms that have been individually licensed.

The committee is also mandated to analyze the legal provisions and practices related to the renewal of arms and to identify the issues of improvement in the law related to arms and related laws. Similarly, the inquiry committee has also been mandated to review the practice of monitoring, regulation and control to prevent misuse of licensed arms and ammunition. Similarly, the inquiry committee has also been assigned to identify the appropriate framework regarding the management and regulation of the records of weapons.
