The parliamentarians demanded that the Forest Act be amended as it hindered development

In Tuesday's meeting of the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee, MPs said that it is difficult to do development work due to the existing Forest Act. They said that the Forest Act should be revised and amended in time. They said that because of the Forest Act, the people had to suffer and there was also an obstacle to the development work.

Member of Parliament Birendra Mahato said that if the Forest Act cannot be amended in time, any development plan cannot be implemented. He said that the Ministry of Finance is always requested to provide compensation for various projects and proposed that arrangements should be made so that compensation can be given from the amount in the Forest Development Fund. He also said that a separate authority should be formed regarding herbs. "Our forest laws and laws are such that if we cannot amend those laws and laws in a timely manner, no matter how much we shout, I will not see any of them being implemented." The employees do not agree to sign the Act, except for a word before the law, even if people are killed and taken away. We know that this is sensitive and should be done as a matter of humanity. There is a big gap between humanity and the law and it cannot solve the problem," he said. There are billions of rupees in the Forest Development Fund than the Ministry of Finance. This small thing can be solved from that. We can also give compensation from there. For that, some amendments should be made to facilitate it or attention should be paid to that. There is a syndicate on the subject of herbs . There are middlemen upon middlemen . Herb growers do not get their fair value .

MP Bir Bahadur Balayer said that it is difficult to work because the Forest Act is in conflict with itself. He said that the law should give justice to the people, but the Forest Act could not give justice to the people. "The law of the forest itself is barren". It's very embarrassing . "The forest law has not done justice to the people, whether the means and resources within the intermediate areas, protected areas and park areas are owned by the government agencies, whether it is the community within them that stores them or consumes them," he said.

MP Amritlal Rajwanshi emphasized that the compensation of the projects should be made available to the people on time . He said that the elephants are causing damage to Balinali and said that necessary amendments should be made in the guidelines to give compensation as soon as possible.

MP Manveer Rai said that herbs and forests have not been able to achieve the desired results and should be properly managed. He said that the soil should be tested for the cultivation of herbs. He also said that in order to make the country self-sufficient through agriculture, the land should be restricted.

MP Suryakumari Shrestha said that due to road problems in the Himalayan region where herbs are produced, there is a problem in collecting herbs. She drew the government's attention to this saying that precious herbs are being wasted.

Member of Parliament Rupa Bik said that the compensation of the areas taken over by the government should be given quickly. She was of the opinion that a laboratory should be set up for herbs.

Deepak Kumar Kharal, secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, informed that the Department of Botany under the Ministry has developed 12 major herb species in the farming system. He said that those species were also distributed for cultivation. The Department of Botany has been working on this issue for a long time by studying, researching and surveying what kind of farming system is suitable, from identifying pocket areas and developing technology to transfer the technology to domesticate the herbs available in the forest area by expanding cultivation. The Department of Botany has done it,' he said, 'now about 12 major herb species can be developed in the farming system and is distributing the results based on that study and research.'
