The construction of the Nagdhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel near the capital has been stalled for a few days now. It is said that the obstruction was caused after the state or related agencies ignored the demands of the locals around the construction site. It is necessary for the state to pay immediate attention to this and move towards solving the problem.
Stopping the work near the end will add time and cost. This tunnel, which is being built to relieve the passengers from the heavy traffic jams on the steep ups and downs of Nagadhunga, is also a model project for the country. It is interesting that the state becomes a silent spectator when there are repeated obstacles in such an important project.
Physical infrastructure minister Raghuveer Mahaseth, who recently came to the talukwala ministry, needs to take immediate action to solve the problem. There is nothing that a state that moves forward with readiness cannot do. As far as the demands and protests of the local residents are concerned, if they are justified, they should be addressed and if they are not justified, they should not be delayed.
