Church Boys United and Tribhuvan Army Club will compete for the title of the 14th edition of the Control Itahari Gold Cup football tournament in Sunsari.

Jhapa Gold Cup champion Church Boys confirmed the title clash with Army after defeating the host Rashtriya Jagriti Club 1-0 in the second semi-final at Itahari Stadium on Thursday.

The goal scored by substitute player Sameer Tamang at the last minute became decisive for Church Boys. In the 89th minute of the game, Samir scored a goal by making use of Kamal Shrestha's pass. He entered the field in place of Rajesh Pariyar in the 40th minute.

Sameer, who returned to Nepal on Wednesday night after playing against Bahrain in the second round of the FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, arrived in Itahari on Thursday afternoon from Kathmandu-Viratnagar flight for the semi-final. He was also declared Man of the Match. He won 10,000 hands.

Last edition's runners-up Church Boys will now compete against Army in the final on Saturday for the title. Army reached the final by winning 2-1 in the penalty shootout over the former champion Sagarmatha Club Morang. The winner will get a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and the runner-up will get Rs 5 lakh.
